Refurbished $100 Kitchen Table

After getting sticker shock for a 60" round table (over $1,500), I hunted the classifieds and found this slightly damaged dark cherry table for $100 on craigslist. A closer inspection revealed that the damaged section was just a blemish in the varnish. Since I was planning on re-staining anyway, this was the perfect match!

I bought some citrus spray-on varnish remover which took 2 cans and a lot of passes. Then I got out the sander with 400 grit paper and cleaned up any of the imperfections.

I then put on a wood conditioner on and prepped my stain. I took the Walnut Stain which was too dark and the Weathered Gray which was too light and mixed them 70% Weathered Grey and 30% Walnut.

After the staining, I sprayed a coat of polyurethane on to the surface with my paint gun and we were very happy with the result.
