In order to help my parents decorate their condo, I helped them by building a headboard for one of the bedrooms. I started with a 2x4 frame with a pegboard in the middle.
I then used a 1/2" foam and spray adhesive
I then added a cotton backing mat and then the fabric

The Takeaways
This was a very inexpensive solution for the headboard. The fabric was very thin and If I did it again, I would have gotten a thicker, more durable fabric. However, after 3 years, the headboard is doing just great. Since building this, I have purchased an air stapler which would have been much nicer than the hand stapler I used.
