Solid Pine Master Bedroom Set

This idea was inspired by some Pinterest ideas that I took and blended together to make our own. I used pine planks from Home Depot which the whole set cost about $500 including stain and Polyurethane.

The goal was to match the stain with the existing ceiling fan. I mixed Walnut stain (20%) with weathered grey (80%)

Purchased these from Amazon

 The Takeaways

- What I Liked: I loved the low footboard which makes it much easier to change sheets and make the bed. I made the frame just a little wider and longer than our California king so that if we ever did need to change the mattress, it would accommodate a regular king. The bed, bench, and nightstands are very solid and durable. I am glad I went with the higher end Sherwin Williams paint for furniture.

- What Would I Change If I Could Do It it Over:
I really wish I would have made the drawers a little deeper in order to accommodate actual drawer slides. They are just a basic pull out which does not work as well as I would have liked.

I would have liked the color to be a little more weathered grey than the walnut. I may have mixed too much of the walnut.

Lastly, the sideboards sit about 8" from the ground. I would have liked them to sit a little higher in order to be able to put more stuff under the bed for storage.
